About Me

I’m a trained educator, neuroscientist, and psychotherapist. In whatever capacity I’m working, I am passionate about facilitating personal growth, supporting diversity and equity, and connecting with my clients from a place of acceptance and authenticity.

I came to practice therapy as part of my own healing journey. Like many of my clients, I carried around a lot of stuff that was preventing me from living a joyful, fulfilling life - lingering trauma from an alcoholic parent, feelings of low self worth and depression, an inability to communicate in relationships, and drinking to self-medicate.

It took a lot of work to get where I am now - to feel whole, confident, and happy - and this work was not easy. Healing trauma is not easy. It takes time and a lot of skill building, but it can happen. There is a way out.

About My Work

I work from a humanistic and holistic approach. This means that I recognize the fullness of human potential and want to help you achieve yours. Together, we will work on developing skills that facilitate personal growth, including self-awareness, self-management, self-compassion, and self-empowerment.

I also recognize the importance of integrating the mind-body connection. Mental state and physical state are not two separate entities. Our challenges (stress, depression, trauma, e.g.) affect us mentally and physically. Knowing this, I strive to help clients cultivate awareness of this mind-body connection. This means recognizing what’s going on in your brain (What are you feeling?) and in your body (Where and how are you feeling it?) and learning techniques to retrain your brain and your body to respond differently to challenges.

Using an eclectic toolkit that includes Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, trauma-informed care, somatic work, meditation, and lots of neuroscience, I will help you work through whatever you’ve got.
